Executive message from Jeremy Meredith, SVP of Global IT

Jeremy came to ASEA with a wealth of experience in the IT space. He has experience working with Fortune 50 giants and spent over 14 years with direct sales companies. With a passion for understanding people, processes, systems, and environments, he is a valuable member of team ASEA, eating, sleeping, and breathing our core values and vision.

HUMANITY is as complex as the people who define it. Throughout history, we’ve seen both atrocities and triumphs, with our collective, paradoxical nature shaping who we are. We are fallible and capable, ruthless and caring, foolish and brilliant, weak and resilient.

Who would come to your mind if you were asked to choose the very best of humanity? Take a moment to think about who you would choose and why. A long list of admirable people come to my mind from all walks of life. However, as I solidify my list of the “best of the best of humanity”, two common considerations stand out.

The first of those considerations is how they viewed and treated the rest of humanity. They were and are patient, understanding, hopeful, and committed to improvement for everyone past, present, and future. Their character was most evident with those people who opposed them.

The second common consideration is that they coupled their compassion with their skills, intellect, and/or insight to drive change for the better. Often, they drove change, understanding that change would be difficult for some to accept. These people fearlessly pursued what they built, changed, or inspired. They undertook their task in large groups or a single person at a time.

Even if our list of the best of humanity is built locally instead of globally, we could all honor those on our list of the best of humanity including Mom, Dad, Grandparent, best friend, teacher, public servant, etc. through how we treat others around and putting in the work toward a better world.

I love the fact that ASEA includes humanity as a core principle of how we operate. Our company, just like humans, has shortcomings as we find our way to being the best that we can be. We are a business. However, as we remember the core value of humanity, we work to refine how we operate by anchoring what we are becoming to mirror the best of those our business serves.
